Small Successes

FaithButton

"It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So on Thursday of each week, we do exactly that."

I don't think I've done any school planning this week, but that doesn't mean I didn't accomplish anything:

  1. Preparing for Lauren's departure, we celebrated Thanksgiving in August. There's a large, empty space in my freezer now! Last night we ate turkey soup for dinner.
  2. I decluttered a bit with the help of Freecycle.
  3. Preparing for David's departure (this morning!), I wrapped a pile of "Remember that we love you" treats for him to open at school.

Are you enjoying your last days of summer? See how other moms are succeeding over at Faith and Family Live.

And now we're off!

  1. #1 Don't you just love it when you can get 2 meals for one!! #2 De-cluttering always feels invigorating! #3 Sounds to me like he'll be missed and he'll be thinking of you too.

  2. What a great idea you had to celebrate Thanksgiving early while your daughter is still at home. I bet she'll really appreciate that you did that when Thanksgiving rolls around. Great job on the decluttering. I love purging things we don't need and reclaiming space in the house. It's a wonderful feeling.

  3. Great Job on decluttering! I loaded up tons of stuff for our seasonal consignment sale -- feels so good to declutter!

  4. I love #1. When I went to college, my mom insisted on celebrating my (October) birthday in August. I thought it was silly at the time, but that October my freshman birthday was miserable and I remembered the lovely party I'd had at home. It made the the lonely far-away-from-home birthday a lot sweeter.

  5. Departures are hard. Thanksgiving in August is a nice way to celebrate the holiday and the departures.

  6. Aaahhh, the start of college school years...Departures are rough on everyone. Trust that there are many, many people on campus looking out for your son! I know - I was a college administrator in my life before kids (in New Student Orientation no less...)
